National Sugar Institute, Kanpur, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India

Applications are invited for admission to the following courses for the academic session 2009 - 2010 commencing from July, 2009.

(A). Post Graduate Diploma course of Associateship of National Sugar Institute (ANSI) in Sugar Technology: Applicant should have B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with minimum 45% marks in aggregate (relaxation fo 5% for SC/ST). Those who have appeared for these examinations can also apply provisionally. Selection to the course will be based on merit to be assessed in the written examination to be held on 6th and 7th of June 2009.

Duration: Two and half academic years.

(B). Post Graduate Diploma course of Associateship of National Sugar Institute (ANSI) in Sugar Engineering: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical branch only. Those who have appeared for these examinations can also apply provisionally. Selection to the course will be based on merit to be assessed in the written examination to be held on 7th June 2009.

Duration: One and a half academic years.

(C). Post Graduate Diploma Course in Industrial Fermentation and Alcohol Technology (DIFAT): B.Sc with Chemistry as one of the subjects with one year experience as on 15.3.09, after passing B.Sc, in a Distillery/Brewery in a technical post. Nomination from Distillery/Brewery is essential.

Duration: One academic year followed by four months practical training in a Distillery/Brewery.

(D). Certificate Course in Sugar Engineering (SECC): Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering of a recognized technical school/College or Polytechnic with one year experience as on 15.3.2009 as Assistant Engineer in a Sugar Factory or 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a Sugar Factory. Nomination from a Vacuum Pan Sugar Factory is essential.

Duration: Two Off-Seasons (July to November)

(E). Certificate Course in Sugar Boiling (SBCC): Matriculate with Science/Agriculture and one season’s Sugar Boiling experience in a Vacuum Pan Sugar Factory is essential. Nomination from a Vacuum Pan Sugar Factory is essential.

Duration: One Off-Season (July to November) followed by five months practical training in a Sugar factory.

(F). Pre Harvest Cane Maturity Survey Certificate Course: Intermediate with Science or equivalent with 2 years experience as on 15.3.2009, in a sugar factory laboratory or field work. Nomination from a Vacuum Pan Sugar Factory is essential.

Duration: One and a half month (15 th October to 30 th November)

(G). Fellowship of National Sugar Institute (F.N.S.I) by Research:

(i) FNSI in Sugar Technology : Minimum qualification is ANSI in Sugar Technology
(ii) FNSI in Sugar Chemistry: Minimum qualification is ANSI in Sugar Technology
(iii) FNSI in Sugar Engineering: Minimum qualification is ANSI in Sugar Engineering
(iv) FNSI in Fermentation Technology: Minimum qualification is Diploma in Industrial Fermentation and Alcohol Technology (DIFAT)

Reservation is available for SC/ST as per rules.

Age: The maximum age of cadidate for the purpose of admission to various courses shall be 35 years as on 31.07.2009 . Candidates born on or after 31.07.74 only be considered.

Application for FNSI in Sugar Technology & Sugar Engineering should be sponsored by a Sugar Factory for carrying out Research work pertaining to the course. Application for FNSI in Fermentation Technology should be sponsored by a Distillery or Brewery for carrying out the research work relating to the course.

Applications can be obtained till 14.4.3009, from National Sugar Institute, Kalianpur, Kanpur-208017 against cash payment of Rs. 500/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST). It can be had by Post from the Institute by sending the amount by Money Order payable to DIRECTOR, NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KANPUR. Candidates are advised to give their names and postal address in CAPITAL LETTERS on money order form, to reach there latest by 31.3.2009.

Completed applications with attested copies of certificates should reach Director, National Sugar Institute, Kalianpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh-208017 by 14th April, 2009, in a cover marked ‘Admission -2009’.
