University of Calicut - MBA Admission 2009-2010

Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut, one of the oldest management institutes in South India, invites applications for its two-year (4 semester) MBA programme at the DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES – DCMS 40 seats (phone 0494 2400297), and at four Self Financed centres under the Department : School of Management Studies, Calicut (40 seats, at Trident Complex, Near Malabar Chamber of Commerce, Cherooty Road, Phone 0495 2768748), School of Management Studies, Palakkad (40 seats, at Management House, Marutha Road, Phone 0491 2571863), School of Management Studies, Trichur (40 seats, at John Mathai Centre, Arunattukara. Phone 0487 2388477) School of Management Studies, Vatakara (40 seats, Lulu Building, Karimbanapalam. Phone 0496 2522299) for the academic year 2009 – 10. The MBA Programme at DCMS in the University Campus is under Choice Based Credit Semester System (CCSS) Applications are also invited for the Part-time MBA (Evening programme - Self Financed), 30 seats each at Calicut, Palakkad and Trichur.

Eligibility:

A bachelor degree in any subject of the University of Calicut or that of any other University recognized by the University of Calicut with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (including languages). (OBC and SC/ST students are allowed relaxation as per rules ie. 5% relaxation for OBC and other eligible communities and a mere pass for SC/ST). Candidates awaiting their degree results may also apply. But they should produce their original degree mark lists before the last date for the registration of their first semester MBA examinations. However, original Plus Two/PDC mark list should be produced for verification at the time of Personal Interview and Group Discussion.

Selection:

Selection is based on Plus Two/Pre-degree marks and the scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance test (to be held during May 2009 at Calicut, Trichur, Ernakulam, Trivandrum and Kannur) Group discussion and Personal Interview. The University may cancel any of these entrance test centres if enough candidates do not opt for that centre for the test.

How to Apply:

The application can be had from the Head, Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut, Malappuram 673 635 or from the Schools of Management Studies mentioned above on paying a fee of Rs.500/- (Rs. 167/- for SC/ST) . For applications by post, please write to the Head of the Department along with a self addressed, Rs.15 stamped envelope (26cmx 15cm) with a crossed demand draft for Rs.500/- (Rs. 167/- for SC/ST students if community certificate is submitted), drawn in favour of ‘The Finance Officer, University of Calicut payable at State Bank of Travancore, Calicut University Branch / chalan for Rs. 500/- (Rs.167/- for SC/ST), remitted to the Calicut University Fund at the University cash counter at the Pareeksha Bhavan. The application form can be downloaded from the University website (www.universityofcalicut.info). If the form is downloaded from the site, DD / Chalan for the fee stated above should accompany such filled up applications.

Last Date:

The last date for issue of application and receipt of filled up applications at the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut is April 30, 2009.

Note: If sufficient candidates are not available for the course at any of the Part-Time Centres, the course will not be conducted at that centre.
